Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will host a regional workshop on tsunami inundation and preparing evacuation plans for the Northwest Indian Ocean on April 21-25.

The workshop will have the participation of 70 participants and experts from various national and regional centers from the countries of the Northwest Indian Ocean.

The workshop is divided into two sub-workshops, one of which covers topics related to tsunami inundation map models, and the other includes preparing models for tsunami hazard evacuation plans.

It may be noted that this workshop is an extension of previous workshops that discussed topics about tsunamis and warnings and awareness related to them, some of which fall under the Enhanced Tsunami Warning in the Northwest Indian Ocean Project of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Indian Ocean (UNESCAP) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC).
