Oman to host International Occupational Health Summit next month

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman is set to host the inaugural edition of the International Occupational Health Summit (IOHS 2024) next month, underlining its steadfast commitment to advancing occupational health concerns and implementing global best practices.


A press conference held here on Thursday unveiled details of the summit, themed "Towards Sustainable Health Excellence at the Workplace." Scheduled to take place from February 4 – 7, 2024 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, IOHS 2024 is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, in collaboration with the Oman Energy Association (OPAL), and with the participation of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, World Health Organization, and several private entities.


The summit will serve as a comprehensive platform addressing local, regional, and global occupational health standards. It will emphasize the effective management of worker well-being through excellence in occupational health, workplace safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and related areas. The primary objective of IOHS 2024 is to establish a global stage for occupational health in the region, showcasing standards, best practices, innovation, and technology.


IOHS 2024 is expected to bring together international leaders, medical officers, professionals, regulators, hygienists, academics, consultants, students, and other stakeholders focusing on labor protection and creating a healthy work environment. The summit will also spotlight Oman's efforts and role in occupational health on local, regional, and global scales, demonstrating its commitment to achieving world-class standards and practices across various industry sectors.


Featuring contributions from local, regional, and international speakers, experts, specialists, and academics, IOHS 2024 is poised to be a significant event. Over 50 companies from diverse local and international organizations will participate, contributing to a comprehensive program comprising four keynote sessions, six panel discussions, 18 technical sessions, and three pre-conference workshops. Topics covered will include worker welfare, leadership and sustainability in occupational health, policies and standards, innovation and technology, mental health at the workplace, occupational health surveillance, and various specialized subjects related to occupational health and industrial hygiene.
