A surge in inbound visitors by 21.5 per cent

The number of inbound visitors to the country increased by 21.5 per cent to 389,506 in February this year, compared to 320,541 in 2023 during the same period. There was an increase of 33.5 per cent in the number of European visitors and 29.2 per cent in the GCC visitors during the same period. A total of 130,415 Europeans visited the Sultanate of Oman in February, which included 40,000 German and 29,000 Italian visitors.


A total of 95,316 from Asia visited the Sultanate of Oman during the same period, which included 89,000 Indian nationals.


Around 227,000 GCC nationals visited the Sultanate of Oman, followed by 33,000 Yemenis.


Outbound visitors


Around 72 per cent of the 606,130 outbound visitors from the Sultanate were Omanis in February 2024. The number of outbound visitors from the Sultanate of Oman dropped by 23.7 per cent from 807,233 in 2023. In the first two months of this year, 746,000 visitors arrived in the country, compared to 1.5 million visitors leaving the country. At the same time, 1,173,304 passengers used Muscat International Airport in February this year, compared to 953,534 in 2023, an increase of 23 per cent, while 111,571 passengers used Salalah International Airport.
