Eid al-Fitr holidays: Options galore across governorates

Muscat - The tourism sector in the Sultanate offers several options to domestic and foreign tourists during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holidays, which include several hotel facilities to cater to visitors of all categories.


Haitham bin Mohammed al Ghassani, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said that hotel establishments compete with each other to provide packages. designed specifically for these occasions and include dining experiences, recreational activities, health centers, and adventure.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) said that the Sultanate of Oman had 813 hotel establishments offering 32,821 rooms in 2023 compared to 674 establishments with 30,332 hotel rooms the previous year.


The number of four-star hotels is 29 with 6,267 rooms, followed by 40 four-star hotels with 6,459 rooms, 57 three-star hotels with 4,827 rooms, and 74 two-star hotels with 4,245 rooms


The number of one-star hotels is 91 with 2,938 rooms. The hotel facilities in the Sultanate of Oman also include 164 hotel apartments with 5,416 rooms.


Hotel establishments in the Sultanate of Oman include types that provide unique experiences, such as the experience of staying in camps, which numbered 24 camps with 704 hotel rooms, and rest houses, which numbered 39 and included 633 hotel rooms.


For visitors to experience the local culture and traditions of the Sultanate of Oman, 15 heritage inns are offering 125 rooms, 160 guest houses with 565 rooms, and 120 green inns with 632 hotel rooms.


South Batinah Governorate

Dr. Al-Mu'tasem bin Nasser al Hilali, Director of the Department of Heritage and Tourism in the South al Batinah Governorate, said the governorate extends from the coasts overlooking the Sea of ​​Oman to the highest mountain peaks that connect the Al-Dakhiliyah and Al-Dhahirah governorates.


The attractions include Al Sawadi Beach in Barka and Mussanah Beach.


It has 105 tourist establishments, including hotels, hotel apartments, guest houses, green lodges, tourist camps, heritage lodges and rest houses.


Most available tourist facilities in the South aBatinah Governorate are guest houses, where the number of houses licensed to attract guests is 38, providing 114 rooms, followed by 35 green lodges offering 142 rooms and one heritage lodge offering nine guest rooms.


Eid markets are active in the six wilayats and places such as the Al Sawadi Beach offer sea trips, fishing, and diving trips, while the wadis and springs provide options for recreation, including hiking.


South Al Sharqiyah Governorate

The Governorate offers 119 hotel and tourist establishments providing 1,764 rooms with a capacity of up to 2,869 beds.


The visitor can also see turtles in Ras Al Hadd, experience windsurfing in the Suwaih area and Masirah Island, visit Sur's traditional shipbuilding workshops, enjoy hiking in Wadi Shab, in addition to mountain trips, land trips, desert trips, and many other fun activities.
