Satti XI fight back to claim title in PSM tourney

MUSCAT: Satti X1 edged Hala Cosmos by six wickets in the final to clinch the title of the Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) Ramadhan softball cricket tournament at the PSM grounds late on Thursday.


Satti XI captain won the toss and elected to field. Hala Cosmos scored a 121 runs in 8 overs with Shanu KT scoring 41 runs with the help of six sixers in just 15 balls. Shani of Satti XI got 2 wickets for 11 runs.


Chasing the total, Satti XI's Attaullah Satti hit a blistering knock of 60 runs not out in 19 balls which included 8 sixers and a four. His brother Mattiullah Satti chipped in with a whirlwind 24 not out in five balls to seal victory for their team. Satti XI claimed the PSM Cup along with a cash prize of $1,000.



The huge crowd enjoyed a lovely evening with superb cricket and alongside Pakistani Tikka Paratha and other spicy dishes. Ahmad Shanfari and Osman Raza were the chief guests along with Imran Ali Chawdhary, Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman. Ataullah Satti won the man of the match award in the final. Sidho of Hala Cosmos was selected as the player of the tournament.


Earlier in the first semifinal, Hala Cosmos thrashed Nazimabad XI by eight wickets. Hala Cosmos elected to field after winning the toss. Nazimabad scored 77-2 in 8 overs. Jibran scored 21 runs (16 b, 2x4, 1x6). Fahiz got two wickets for 25 runs.


In reply, Hala Cosmos reached 80-2 in 4.4 over with the loss of two wickets. Muhammad Ali's 33 not out (11b, 4x6) fetched him the man of the match award. Sultan Ahmed took two wickets for Nazimabad. In the second semifinal, Satti XI beat Salalah Kings by 6 wickets. Satti XI won the toss and sent in Salalah Kings to bat first. Salalah scored 69-6 in 8 overs. M Usman scored 20 runs in 13 balls with one six. Tahir Khalil got 2-11 in 2 overs for Satti XI and won the man of the match. Satti reached 70-4 in 4.4 overs to enter the final. Arshaman Shani hit 18 from 8 balls with one four and two sixers. Mohsin took 2 wickets for 4 runs in 1 over for Salalah.
