Hazy weather in Muscat, rain expected over al Hajar

As Spring officially began, Wednesday saw a hazy morning in Muscat. High and medium clouds continued to flow over most governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, with chances of local clouds forming over the Hajar Mountains later.


There could be chances of scattered rain during the afternoon over the Hajar Mountains.


Low clouds are to form on parts of the coast of the Arabian Sea.


The weather forecaster at Oman Met Office said rains are expected over Al Hajar Mountains and nearby areas on Wednesday and Thursday.


There is also chance of dust rising over deserts and open areas. Low clouds or fog formation are expected over parts of South Al-Sharqiya, North Al-Sharqiya, Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates and parts of Oman Sea coasts.


Along Oman Sea coasts winds will be easterly to northeasterly light to moderate, while over rest of the governorates winds will be easterly to southeasterly light to moderate and occasionally it will be moderate to fresh along the Arabian Sea coasts and over deserts and open areas.


The sea waves are expected to be light to moderate along the Oman Sea coasts with maximum wave height of 1.5 meters and slight rest of coasts with maximum wave height of 1.25 meters.


Horizontal visibility might reduce during rain, fog formation and dust rising.


Samail and Sur recorded maximum temperature with 36 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperature was recorded in Jabal Shams with a high of 16 degrees Celsius and a low of 11 degrees Celsius. Salalah is experiencing a high of 28 degrees and a low of 25 degrees Celsius.
