Seeb crowned champions of Oman Volleyball League

MUSCAT: Seeb were crowned champions of the Oman Volleyball League after defeating Al Salam 3-1 in the final that was held at the Sultan Qaboos Complex in Bausher on Monday night.


The match was held under the auspices of Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary for Education at the Ministry of Education and Head of the Oman School Sports Association.


Seeb started nicely, winning the first and second sets, while Al Salam returned to the match by taking the third set. However, Seeb claimed the fourth set to take the trophy.



The first serve of the match came in favour of Al Salam but was missed by Amjad al Saadi, then Al Salam quickly corrected his mistake by scoring the equaliser through Murad Khan. Seeb scored two points to take a 3-1 lead. Al Salam reduced the difference by scoring a point, then Seeb earned 6 points to make the score 9-4. The excitement continued between the two teams until the first set ended in favour of Seeb 25-19.


In the second set, Al Salam started strongly to take a 3-0 lead. Seeb came back into set tying at 4-4 and later took the lead at 16-13. Seeb players maintained their performance to take the second set 25-18.



Seeb players continued in the same way and they were able to open the scoring in the third set with two points, while Al Salam scored a point to make it 3-1. Al Salam tried hard to take advantage and led 13-10. They withstood Seeb players' challenge to prevail 25-21 in the third set.


In the fourth set, Al Salam players were able to open the scoring, then Seeb came back well to equalise. The two teams exchanged scoring points to make the score 16-16, after which Seeb players managed to control and score 4 points to make it 20-16. Seeb kept their advantage and won the set and match at 25-20.



INDIVIDUAL AWARDS


After the end of the final match, Seeb were crowned with the champions trophy, Al Salam claimed the runners-up prize and Majees finished third.


Among the individual awards of the league, Seeb's Abdullah al Muqbali won the award for the best libero, Seeb's Mohammed al Muqbali won the award for the best setter and Ahmed al Tobi (Seeb) and Khalid al Muqbali (Al Salam) won the award for the best players in Centre 3.


Mahmoud al Saadi (Seeb) and Hilal al Muqbali (Majees) won the award for the best players in Centre 4 and Al Salam's Murad Khan won the award for the best hitter, while Seeb's Saud al Maamari, bagged the award for the best all-rounder of the league.
