

MUSCAT: In a significant move aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and fostering economic growth, eight contracts were recently signed for the cultivation and production of agricultural crops in Al Batinah North.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of distinguished officials including Engineer Abdullah bin Mohammed al Haddabi, Director General of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Batinah North, and Eng Ali bin Ahmed al Maashani, Director General of Urban Planning in Al Batinah North.
The contracts, facilitated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, pertain to lands under the usufruct system, signaling a strategic effort to harness agricultural potential for sustainable development. With an investment value exceeding RO 800K, covering an extensive area of 336,000 square meters, these agreements are poised to stimulate agricultural activity and contribute to the region's economic prosperity.
The initiative underscores the government's commitment to achieving food security objectives outlined in Vision 2040, which emphasizes the importance of enhancing local agricultural production and creating employment opportunities, particularly for Omani youth.
Notably, the signing of these contracts marks a significant milestone for the participating Omani youth, who have undergone specialized training under the agricultural and fisheries incubator program at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. Their involvement reflects a concerted effort to empower local talent and promote sustainable practices in the agricultural sector.
The contracts are expected to generate a multitude of employment opportunities across various agricultural-related sectors, including marketing, rice production, and labor. This strategic investment is poised to elevate the region's agricultural output, bolstering food security and improving the quality of agricultural products.
