Muscat: The 10th edition of the Oman Desert Marathon, a 165 km five-stage desert self-sufficient race will be held in the Sultanate of Oman on January 18 to 22.
With an average high temperature of 25 degrees during the day, and an average low temperature of 17.3 at night. January offers to the participants of the Oman Desert Marathon the perfect conditions to enjoy the race to the fullest.
The Oman Desert Marathon is a race held since 2013, has now run up nine previous editions and in 2025 presents a 165-kilometre route in five stages through one of the most spectacular deserts in the world. The course in which the sand is present in every stage, offers the discovery of a very rich country in culture and landscape, while still being a tough challenge for those who want to enjoy a race through the desert.
In this next edition, the stage distances will be 42, 32, 40, 30 and 21 kilometres, thus offering the runners a spectacular route, an epic stage of a marathon distance, followed by a more relax but still challenging 32 km stage, to continue with a 40 km, to later experience a night stage of 30 km and finalising with the shortest distance of 21 km on the last day.
After the last edition in 2024, in which Rachid El Morabity stood on the first step of the podium, and Omani champions, Saleh al Saidi and Ghaith al Saidi came in 2nd place and 3rd place respectively, the Oman Desert Marathon will be back offering for its 10th anniversary, a new distance for hikers. The 100 km Oman Desert Marathon Hiking Experience, will be a multi-day hike that offers the opportunity to explore endless rolling sand dunes, and investigate the desert on foot. For those who are not ready for a self sufficient adventure but still want to challenge themselves, the Oman Desert Marathon will be back offering races for locals, residents and companions of the international participants with a marathon, a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km family run and 2 km for kids.
