Geneva: The Sultanate of Oman affirmed its commitment to support all international efforts, and to implement the provisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the 2015 Paris Agreement, and is making tireless efforts to reduce the challenges of climate change.

At the meeting of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the Sultanate of Oman's stance was conveyed by Ambassador Idris al Khanjari, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva. Oman encourages investment in sustainable agriculture to adapt to climate change.

"We must work to consolidate biodiversity in order to reduce dependence on chemical inputs, and improve food distribution systems and market infrastructure to ensure effective and equitable distribution of food, especially in times of natural disasters related to climate change," he said.

Al Khanjari said the Sultanate of Oman calls for the need to unify regional and international efforts aimed at building a sustainable world for future generations, and to achieve this purpose, it announced the year 2050 as a goal to achieve zero neutrality in greenhouse gas emissions in all sectors.

He said food insecurity in the Gaza Strip is a result of the aggression and blockade imposed by Israel. The pollution in Gaza is caused by Israel's use of internationally banned white phosphorus that kills civilians, destroys farm land and vegetation, and contributes to climate change and air pollution significantly in these areas.
