

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources said that an amount exceeding 134 million cubic metres of rainwater has been retained into 27 flood protection dams in a number of wilayats to protect against flood risks from March 8 to 11.
Engineer Nasser bin Mohammed al Battashi, Director-General of Water Resources Assessment at the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources, said that Wadi Dayqah Dam in the Wilayat of Quriyat in Muscat Governorate which has a capacity of 100 million cubic metres, is now full to the brim. Al Salif Dam in the Wilayat of Ibri in Al Dhahirah Governorate, which has a capacity of one million cubic metres, has also reached capacity. Sorour Dam in the Wilayat of Dhank, which has a capacity of 1.29 million cubic metres and the Sidairiyeen Dam in the Wilayat of Yanqul, which has a capacity of 0.24 million cubic metres, are also filled to the brim. The dams of Wadi Al Haywan, Masah, Abu Qalaa, Mahdha and Al Jawif, have reached maximum capacity.
Other flood protection dams in the governorates of North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, Musandam and South Al Sharqiyah, have also reached their maximum capacity. — ONA
