Muscat: The Directorate General of Criminal Investigations at the ROP has detected a new activity targeting youngsters, whereby a fraudulent announcement for fake jobs is sent via SMS to lure the victims and persuade them to carry out specific online businesses in return for financial profits.

"Once these amounts are transferred to their bank accounts, they are asked to pay money to obtain a tempting prize, followed by other requests without the victims realizing that they have fallen victim to an organized scam," The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said in a statement.

ROP all citizens and residents to verify the authenticity and source of published announcements and report any relevant suspicions to the authorities concerned.
