

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Education has received 3 new modern schools in the Wilayat of Al Amerat at a cost of RO 4,806,653.
Dr Ali bin Humaid al Jahwari, Director-General of Education in Muscat Governorate and the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, said in an interview with Oman News Agency (ONA) that Muscat Governorate has received many projects in different wilayats including the Wilayat of Al Amerat where the ministry received at the beginning of the current academic year a new school for grades 1 to 4 at a cost of RO 1, 444, 853 in the village of Al Hajer to which the male and female students of Al Shifa Evening School were shifted.
The ministry also received another two new schools in Al Mahaj one of which is a 40-classroom girls school for grades 9 to 12 at a cost of RO 1,955,000, in addition to a 40-classroom school for grades 1 to 4 at a cost of RO 1,046,800. The new schools have modern educational facilities such as laboratories, administrative offices, clinics, computer labs, among others, the official said.
Besides, construction work is underway on a new school building consisting of 30 classrooms in Al Nahda City at a cost of RO 1,806,698 for girls in grades 11 to 12, Al Jahwari said, adding that the new schools were designed in such a way as to accommodate the largest number of students in order to reduce the pressure on the existing schools especially grades 11 and 12 in view of the continuous population growth in the Wilayat of Al Amerat. — ONA
