MUSCAT: To enhance connectivity and traffic efficiency in the southern Maabilah area of the Wilayat of Seeb, Muscat Municipality has issued a tender for two transformative projects set to reshape the urban landscape.

The dualization of Al Nuzha Street and the expansion of Al Mouj and November 18 Streets are poised to bring about significant improvements to the transportation network in the wilayat. The Al Nuzha Street dualization project, spanning 11 kilometers in length, stands as a focal point for these initiatives.

The project encompasses the construction of dual and service streets, installation of high-capacity traffic intersections, and the implementation of water drainage systems on both sides. Key components include 11 kilometers of dual lanes, 3.5 kilometers of service roads, a 2.5-kilometer concrete channel for efficient surface water drainage, and 6 traffic intersections equipped with traffic lights and multi-cell box expressions. LED street lighting is also integrated for enhanced visibility and safety.

The project's goals encompass improving traffic efficiency along Al Nuzha Street and Al Salam Street, serving vital facilities, urban plans, and local neighborhoods, and enhancing surface water drainage systems and road safety.

In a parallel initiative, the Municipality proposes the expansion of Al Mouj and November 18 Streets, with each street to be widened to three lanes in both directions. Additionally, key roundabouts, including Al Mouj Roundabout, Al Bahja Roundabout, and Al Ishraq Roundabout in Al Hail North, are set to undergo conversion into high-capacity intersections equipped with state-of-the-art optical signals.

This comprehensive approach aims to alleviate traffic congestion and foster economic development in the surrounding areas. Key components include widening November 18 Street and Al Mouj Street to three lanes in each direction, paving service streets for existing commercial buildings in the vicinity, and establishing surface water drainage channels alongside necessary protections for the project.

As these initiatives move forward, they mark a moment in the ongoing evolution of Seeb, promising a future where infrastructure meets the demands of a dynamic and growing community.
