MANAH: The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) concluded its latest meetings with entrepreneurs in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate at the Oman Across Ages Museum in the Wilayat of Manah, under the auspices of Shaikh Hilal bin Said al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah.

The meetings, coming as an enhancement of the participation approach and a continuation of the series of meetings organised by the ASMED with entrepreneurs in 10 governorates in the Sultanate of Oman, aim to review the authority’s efforts, plans, directions, and initiatives in support of entrepreneurs, consolidate the approach of communication and listening to the challenges facing owners of small and medium enterprises and find appropriate solutions for them.

This is in addition to engaging them to come up with innovative solutions that contribute to facing various challenges and sustaining the growth of small and medium enterprises.

The meeting was preceded by an entrepreneurial evening held on Tuesday, organised by the ASMED in corporation with the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in Harat Al Aqur in the Wilayat of Nizwa. The evening was held under the auspices of Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidi, President of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ).

More than 150 participants were divided into groups according to the subject areas and the general challenges that the participants addressed in the registration form for the meeting.

Hamidah bint Humaid al Khasibiyah, Owner of the Perfect Pearl Foundation, said: "I thank the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority for this meeting, in which all the questions, inquiries and suggestions facing entrepreneurs were raised and answered by the relevant officials. This meeting contributed to resolving outstanding problems and finding appropriate solutions for them."

Eman bint Said al Shaibaniyah, an entrepreneur in the field of design, printing and packaging, said: “This meeting came to empower and develop us as entrepreneurs, as well as support us to challenge risks, to empower us in the market, and to help us move towards the Omani and global market. As an entrepreneur, one of the challenges I face are job opportunities, contracts, and tenders that come from government institutions that we may not get. These contracts go to big companies. We should get priority as small and medium enterprises."
