Muscat: The Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) announced on Monday a new initiative aimed at speeding up the encompassing of sanitation services and reducing its costs.

The new orientation is to rely on a household sewage treatment plant, a modern wastewater treatment system that treats all types of wastewater generated in residential/domestic dwellings.

The new initiative revolves around treating sewage water and reusing it for gardening-related services inside home boundaries.

This will contribute to rationalizing irrigation consumption by 50 percent and reducing transportation fees of drainage tankers by 100 percent, in addition to positive environmental and health side effects.
