Strong winds lash parts of Oman

Muscat: The South-easterly winds are affecting several governorates in the Sultanate of Oman, with weather monitoring stations recording wind speeds reaching 21 knots, leading to rising dust and sandstorms and reducing horizontal visibility.


The wind activity is expected to continue until this evening.


High waves* are expected on the coasts of Musandam Governorate and the Sea of Oman due to active northwesterly winds.


The sea will be moderate to rough with waves reaching 1.5 to 2.5 meters.


Moderate waves are expected on the coasts of the Arabian Sea in the range of 1.25 to 1.5 meters.

As the Sultanate of Oman will be affected by a depression starting from the evening of Sunday, February 25, until Monday, February 27, scattered rain, with thunderstorms at times, are expected in Musandam Governorate and the coastal areas overlooking the Sea of ​​Oman and parts of the Hajjar Mountains.


The Ministry of Transport and Communications and Information Technology has warned road users in Al-Buraimi and Al-Dhahirah governorates, especially the Ibri-Hafeet road, of the need to be careful of flying dust and sand.
