James Deane Wins OIDC Championship 2024 after thrilling finish

Muscat: The Oman International Drift Championship (OIDC) roared to a spectacular conclusion on Friday, leaving both online and in-arena audiences impressed. The sixth edition of the championship surpassed expectations, captivating a record-breaking number of viewers, much to the delight of the Oman Automobile Association (OAA).


Day 2 of the OIDC Round 3 finals exploded with a thrilling display of skill across three categories. Four talented Omani drivers, twelve drivers from across the Middle East, including second round's victor Ahmed Daham, showcased their diverse drifting style. But all eyes were drawn to the international category, where global drifters met. Famous names like James Dean and Nikolass Bertans joined the sixteen other international drivers, creating a full-on of experience and talent. With such a diverse and accomplished field, Day 2 promised an unforgettable spectacle, all competing for the ultimate glory: the OIDC championship round three title.

Held under the patronage of Engineer. Ahmed Al Humaidi chairman of Muscat Municipality, and graced by the presence of Brigadier Jamal bin Said Al Tai , Vice Chairman of the Oman Automobile Association's Board of Directors, the third and final round of Oman’s sixth edition international drift championship that took place on Thursday and Friday at Muscat Arena. The competition was divided into three categories: international, Middle East and National categories, with each category showcasing the best talent from its region.


International category: In a thrilling showdown in the international category, Irish legend James Deane emerged victorious, leaving the competition in his wake. Kuwaiti driver Ali Makhseed claimed a well-deserved second place, while Lithuanian drifter Benediktas Cirba skilfully secured third.


Middle East category: Kuwait's Ali Makhseed took the first place followed by Emirati driver Hazaa Al Hosani in second place and Jordan’s driver Ahmed Daham in third place.

National category: Tariq Al Shaihani emerged victorious in the national category, Ahmed Al Amri in second, and Reyadh Al Mabsali came third on the podium.


The OIDC Round 3 finals concluded with the crowning of champions in not only the three primary categories, but also in four additional categories.

Third Place: Finland’s Juha Matias


MENA category overall:


First Place: Jordan’s Ahmed Daham


Second Place: Kuwait’s Ali Makhseed
