OOTC begins quarter-finals today

MUSCAT: The quarter-final round of the Oman Open Tennis Championship (OOTC), organised by the Oman Tennis Federation, concludes today on the tennis courts at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.


With participation of more than 130 Player from Male, Female, girls, boys, veterans men’s and women’s from various nationalities residing in the Sultanate of Oman and national team players.


The quarter-finals of the tournament continued for three days of competition between players in the various categories, the tournament witnesses exciting and beautiful competitions between players. The doubles competitions also began, which today will witness a number of important matches in various categories and ages.


The results of the under 14 boys category came with player Ahmed Ehab defeating player Abdulrahman al Rahbi with a score of 6/2 - 6/3, and player Moataz al Mazrouei beating player Kavin Raj with a score of 6/1 - 6/1 in the quarter-finals. In the Man’s veterans under 50 category in quarter-finals, Saad al Sulaimani defeated the player Giampaolo 6/3 - 6/3. In the women’s veterans under 50, The player Elizabeth defeated Giselda with a score of 61 - 61, In the Man’s veterans under 40 quarter-finals - the player Mohammed al Yawri defeated the Indian Suhail Khan 62 and 6�.


The Italian player Giampaolo Calvi said: "Oman tournament was a good occasion to play tennis. I’m Italian and I always played tennis in my life and thanks to Oman tennis federation to organising and officiating this prestigious tournament I’m meeting lots of players with whom I’m enjoying to play tennis with".


"I want to suggest to plan some tennis courts indoor in order to have the chance to play during hot season", he added.


"I appreciate the fact that this tournament tournaments there was so many different categories from different ages so that give opportunities all the ages and gender to participate. In conclusion i hope this will be the first of many more" he ended.
