Through a visual presentation, the two leaders were briefed about the stages of establishing the Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Project.

Speaking about the auspicious opening, Abdul Salam bin Mohammed al Morshedi, Chairman of OIA, said that the opening of this joint project between the Sultanate of Oman and the sisterly State of Kuwait comes as an embodiment of the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, which is the largest investment project between two Gulf countries in the refinery sector.

“The groundbreaking of the project was taken under the patronage of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik in 2018.”, he added.

Earlier, His Majesty the Sultan received on Wednesday Emir of the State of Kuwait, and the accompanying delegation upon their arrival at al Duqm Airport.

The two leaders headed to the refinery headquarters to attend the opening ceremony, passing between two rows of honor guards from the Royal Guard of Oman.

Upon the arrival of the motorcade carrying His Majesty the Sultan and His Highness, the dear guest, to the gate of the Duqm Refinery and petrochemical industries, a welcoming reception was held by a group of people of the Al Wusta Governorate, during which they presented some Omani musical arts, expressing their jubilation over this occasion.
