Dr Shihab to take part in 2024 AVC meeting in Bangkok

Muscat: Oman’s Dr Shihab Aldin Ahmed al Riyami will take part in the 2024 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Coaches Committee Meeting which will be held in Bangkok city, Thailand on Saturday. The one-day meeting will have a busy agenda as the committee will address coaching committee’s report, volleyball coaching programmes and the relevant forthcoming coaching development events.


Dr Shihab al Riyami said: ”It is great opportunity to represent the nation in this high level continental meeting. Asian Volleyball Confederation presented many events in the last season namely all the AVC competitions beside the 2024 Paris Olympic Games qualifiers for men’s and women’s competitions which had registered strong and tight competitions among the participated teams.


"I am highly positive of Coaches Committee projects in developing volleyball coaches knowledge via EroAsia coaches programme which presented greatest course in Bangkok and let coaches exchange their skills and knowledge with European coaches as multi volleyball schools. Also, AVC coaches courses will be launched in 2024 in all Asian zones for enhancing coaches information and upgrading their brain in coaching field. However, AVC is looking for increasing the number of qualified volleyball coaches by FIVB coaches programme and AVC Coaches Commission plan in improving Asian volleyball coaches in modern volleyball,” Dr Shihab added


“Eventually, I would like to extend my gratitude to the Asian Volleyball Confederation for the confidence shown towards me and giving me this golden opportunity to be part of the AVC Coaches Committee meeting among highly experienced coaches and former Olympian athletes. I am also grateful to the AVC family and I wish all the best for this year's forthcoming events and programmes," the FIVB international coaching instructor signed out.


The meeting on Saturday will begin with a welcome address by Rita Subowo, AVC President. Then another opening address by Park Ki-Won, Chairman of AVC Coaches Committee. Later, the committee members will discuss on the coaching committee president's report of FIVB meeting besides discussion of the main activities of each committee’s member.


This will be followed by reviewing the report of the SEV-AVC project of 2023 which will be delivered by GE Sridharan and then discussing report of the progressive of Euro-Asia Collaboration Project of 2024 besides revision of the previous project’s plan. The AVC Coaches Committee Meeting will highlight on development of the national team coaches in Category 1 and 2 and they will nominate to appoint new Coaching Course Instructors. The members will discuss the important points of FIVB Coaches Commission’s Report which is related to AVC and then will propose AVC Coaches Courses in five zones of AVC and date of 2025 AVC Coaches Committee Meeting.
