Duqm to undergo aesthetic improvement

Muscat: While the Special Economic Zone of Duqm has been booming remarkably, the government has set a strategic plan to improve the economic hub aesthetically.


In an interview with Oman News Agency, Abdullah al Alawi, said the project of implanting 5,000 trees was 100% complete as of 2023, noting that they implanted over 5,718 trees and extended green landscapes to around 34,000 square meters.


Meanwhile, the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones allocated a sum of RO 2,393,000 for afforestation.


Al alawi said the green area in the region to increase to over 50,000 square meters by mid-2024, covering diverse trees suitable for the region's climatic conditions.


“In the second phase, the authority aims to implant approximately 5,000 trees, with work commencing between 2025 and 2026.


The Duqm Free Zone has dedicated some investment plots for setting up plant nurseries, which would contribute considerably to producing multi-varieties.
