Oman receives over 4 million visitors in 2023

Muscat: Over 600,000 Indians and 118,000 Chinese nationals visited the country in 2023 as the Sultanate recorded over four million visitors arrived last year, which included 2.1 million three to five-star hotel guests.


According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), 610,000 Indian nationals visited the country, behind 1.6 million GCC nationals.


Among others, 231,000 Germans and 150,000 Yemenis visited the country last year.

The number of visitors coming to Oman increased by 19 percent to 382,000 in December 2023, compared to the previous year, of these 32.2 percent were from the GCC and 29 percent from Europe.


In 2023, there were 92,931 flight departures and 81, 987 flight arrivals from India.


The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) is currently organizing bilateral meetings with representatives of tourism companies from the Indian market, including operators and hotel establishments.


MHT seeks to promote Oman as an ideal destination for Indian travelers for weddings and big events.


According to an MHT statement, the Sultanate is one of the closest tourist destinations for Indians, apart from several direct flights between the two countries (with some destinations as short as less as two hours and a maximum of around four hours.


The Sultanate of Oman offers simplified e-visas for Indian nationals.


Some categories of Indian passport holders can avail visa-free entry for 14 days.
