MUSCAT: The Social Protection Fund (SPF) concluded its introductory meetings across all governorates in Oman, wrapping up in Al Wusta Governorate, specifically in the Wilayat of Haima, in collaboration with Al Wusta Governorate office.

The event, attended by dignitaries including Shaikh Mohammed bin Ali al Ghufaili, Wali of Haima, brought together elders, experts from child and disability care associations, Omani Women’s Associations and civil society institutions.

The meeting focused on introducing the social protection system and aiming to enhance the quality of life and provide social protection and care by developing and implementing policies and programmes targeting social and economic aspects.

Emphasis was placed on achieving national goals and visions, ensuring sustainability, integration, inclusivity, stability, and the impact on community partnership values, while preserving the rights of current and future generations.

Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the benefits of social protection and the eligibility mechanism for various benefits, including those for the elderly, orphaned children and widows, persons with disabilities, and family income support.

These benefits represent a set of rights and responsibilities executed by the SPF to provide care and support across various aspects of life, aiming to protect deserving groups in society, foster social solidarity and justice, and achieve social and economic stability for the community. It’s worth mentioning that the SPF organised its introductory initiatives across Oman starting from November 2023.

Social protection is considered a comprehensive system with integrated coverage for sustainable community care, aligning with international best practices.

The system is based on the state’s fundamental principles, national directives, and the vision of ‘Oman 2040’, aspiring to achieve social justice, equality, and enhance economic development efforts for the welfare of citizens.
