MUSCAT: Just as any non-Omani who fell in love with the Sultanate of Oman and made it his home away from home, an artist who lived in the country for 34 years is reflecting this country that's 'close to his heart', on canvas at the Waterfront from today (Thursday).

Titled 'Lantern - Lighting the Imagination', a solo exhibition by artist Kurian Joshi, is set to come alive with ingenious fervour at the Art & Soul Gallery in Shatti al Sarooj under the auspices of Salem al Bortmany, CEO of Areej Vegetable Oils & Derivatives SAOC and a seasoned technocrat.

"It is all about my imagination that was put into colours on canvas. I have used all mediums, acrylic, oil, and water colour to give light to my imaginations," said Kurian Joshy, who is also a blessed sculptor.

The exhibition will display a range of Kurian Joshi’s works over the past three and half decades of sojourn in Oman where he served big corporates as a graphic designer and artist, showcasing years of his creative exploration and ingenuity.

Running until January 31, the exhibition will encapsulate a fusion of abstract and realistic paintings, with Kurian Joshi’s works delving into the essence of life and intellectual reflections, predominantly focused on the theme of Oman.

"My creations are intimate records of the resonances I feel within, offering a glimpse into my artistic journey. I invite everyone to share in this experience, and I hope this exhibition provides an exhilarating and enriching experience for all art enthusiasts and it's a tribute to the nation that has been my home for my whole age,” an emotional Joshi adds.
