MUSCAT: The Civil Aviation Authority held a workshop today at its headquarters for government officials to discuss the preliminary outputs of the National Aviation Strategy 2040.
The workshop included a presentation that discussed three main axes: the objectives of the National Aviation Strategy 2040, its principles and preliminary outputs, in addition to feedback and guidance.
Eng Naif bin Ali al Abri, CEO of the Civil Aviation Authority, emphasized during the workshop that this strategy will enhance the position of the Sultanate of Oman in the aviation sector, considering that the Sultanate of Oman's location is a gateway between the East and the West. He added that the strategy will also focus on the potential of air cargo at Muscat and Salalah airports.
On his part, Hamed bin Ahmed al Barshidi, the project supervisor, pointed out that the Civil Aviation Authority is seeking to develop the aviation sector through strategic planning and encouraging investment in infrastructure and directly related services to the civil aviation sector in order to provide air transport with the highest quality standards for all relevant parties.
He also aims to promote the growth of the sector and improve air connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and the world, while ensuring the highest levels of safety, security, and environmental protection.
The Civil Aviation Authority seeks to ensure that the formulation of this strategy is participatory with all components of the aviation sector, as well as other relevant sectors, in addition to institutions, individuals, and stakeholders (and members of the community) through participation in workshops and meetings within multiple axes.
The Civil Aviation Authority has included the project of preparing the National Aviation Strategy in its annual plan for 2023, as a commitment to achieving the desired impact and building indicators for the aviation sector that are consistent with national programs and international commitments, so that it is committed to as a unified roadmap for the sector.
