Dhofar gears up for Diploma examinations

The Directorate-General of Education in Dhofar Governorate held a meeting to discuss the final preparations for the first round of the General Diploma Examinations for 2023/2024. Dr Maysoon bint Bakheet al Shahari, acting Director-General of Education, chaired the meeting.


The meeting emphasised intensive preparations to conduct the examination smoothly, provide a suitable environment for the students, and overcome any obstacles they may face.


The meeting discussed the mechanism and nature of work and regulations for exams for grades 5-11, the formation of internal committees in schools, the work of committees to follow up on the progress of exams for grades 5-11, the delivery plan for exams to schools from the technical printing house at the directorate, the mechanism for monitoring school guards during the exam period, the role of the social and psychological counsellor, and procedures for dealing with challenges or emergencies that may occur inside the centre.


The meeting also discussed the tasks assigned to the heads of the centres, which are the most important of the preliminary tasks, the tasks before the start of the exams, the tasks on the day of the exam, and after the end of the exam work.


It also discussed the role of the exam centre management committee members in following up on the implementation of the instructions related to exams and the work assigned to it by the head of the centre.


The number of students who applied for the transfer exams for grades 5-11 in the governorate for all stages of education is 37,705. The number of students who applied for the General Diploma examinations in Dhofar Governorate for the current academic year is 4,867, distributed over 48 centres.


The General Diploma examinations for the first semester of the academic year 2023-2024 will start on January 9, 2024, with mathematics and will end on January 25, 2024, with history.
