Dr. Abdulrahim Musallam al Droushi, Chairman of Oman Racket Sports Committee (ORSC), discussed with Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Asia to enhance the joint cooperation with the committee in order to achieve the goals for developing the game in the Sultanate of Oman.
Al Darwashi visited the headquarters of the continental and international federations in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur to open new horizons of joint work in the near future. The Chairman of the Committee met with officials during this visit as he presented the cooperation between the both parties beside reviewing the initiatives and agreements that could be benefited from and activated to contribute the growth and prosperity of sports in the Sultanate of Oman.
The chief of ORSC said, “ This visit was based on an invitation from the Badminton Asia to attend a number of meetings and discussions with key people in both federations. The Badminton Asia officials expressed their happiness on the various programs and activities done by ORSC in the couple months ago after formation of the committee in the last July. Despite the short period, the committee was able to reach into large segment of interested people in badminton and implementing several training programs, events and targeted festivals for the junior groups.” he added
Al Droushi affirmed that the support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, beside the cooperation of commercial partners provided us a proper environment to create a qualitative movement in boosting and development of Oman’s badminton. “ The diligent work of the committee’s board directors contributed successfully towards developing human resources by providing series of workshops for teachers, coaches, and referees, hosting and organizing tournaments to select and attract potential talents,” he said
Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Droushi pointed out that these initiatives opened wide horizons for us to develop and spread the game in the Sultanate of Oman. “ We need to approach and work together with international bodies and this will result positively by forming a strong badminton domestically and regionally. There are various types of cooperation and support provided by BWF and Badminton Asia namely Air Badminton, badminton time, and other programs beside to benefiting from the expertise available in the Asian and international Federations by transferring the Knowledge and experience to local personnel to achieve maximum technical benefit. ORSC will announce the new initiatives, events and programs soon in our official social media accounts,” he ended.
