MUSCAT: The Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) celebrated Retirees’ Day, which falls on December 7 every year, under the patronage of Major General (Retd) Hamoud bin Humaid al Badi and in the presence of Major General Salim bin Ali al Hosani, Commander of the Royal Guard of Oman.

The ceremony, held at the RGO Technical College, included a speech by Director of Social Services and Retirees’ Affairs, RGO, in which he expressed the importance of the day, considered one of the glorious days in the history of the Sultan’s Armed Forces.

The day is celebrated in honour of the retirees and in appreciation of the contribution made during the course of their military service, and in celebration of their pioneering roles and in glorification of the great national roles that they faithfully performed, represented in preserving the gains and capabilities of Oman.

The audience also watched a visual presentation that embodied the development and modernisation witnessed by the Royal Guard of Oman at all levels. The ceremony also included the presentation of musical notes, singing segments, and poetry poems. The celebration was attended by senior officers, non-commissioned officers, individuals, and a number of retirees from the Royal Guard of Oman. - ONA
