Muscat - The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its regret and rejection of the US administration’s bias and its use of veto against the Security Council’s draft resolution that would have demanded an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza to save the deteriorating humanitarian situation and provide relief to civilians.

The US veto came despite the warning of the UN Secretary-General and international humanitarian institutions about the living conditions of the besieged Palestinian people in Gaza and the disability of UN agencies to carry out their duties. This, Oman believes, would lead to the downfall of the international system in carrying out its responsibilities by the United Nations Charter.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry today, the Sultanate of Oman renewed its call upon the international community to exert all political, diplomatic, and legal efforts to lift the siege on Gaza, halt Israel’s attacks, and hold it accountable for the war crimes it commits against the Palestinian people.

Oman also called for providing urgent relief for the Palestinian people and supporting their struggle on their land, as well as protecting them from this brutal aggression.s.
