Oman participates in ARABOSAI meeting in Riyadh

RIYADH: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by State Audit Institution (SAI), participates in the 67th meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI), held in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman in the two-day meeting is headed by Shaikh Ghuson bin Hilal al Alawi, Chairman of State Audit Institution, with the participation of heads of member Institutions and Bureaus, the Deputy Secretary-General of the ARABOSAI, and a number of specialists from the State Audit Institution.


The meeting opened with a speech by the Chairman of the Executive Council, in which he expressed appreciation for the efforts of SAIs members of the Council in implementing the tasks entrusted to the Council, and stressed the importance of the recommendations and activities implemented by the organisation through the technical committees in cooperation with the member SAIs. This, he added, contributed to the constant development of the professional performance of SAIs and capacity-building of their staff.


The meeting reviews the activities of the Executive Council and the Secretariat General, and discusses the amendment of the Working Rules and Regulations Document and the activities follow-up system. It also discusses the reports of the Institutional Capacity Building Committee, the Professional and Audit Standards Committee, the Sustainable development Goals Auditing Committee, the IT Audit Committee, the Strategic Plan Committee, and the Strategic Plan Follow-Up Committee, in addition to the review and discussion of development proposals related to the organisation's work.


Further, the meeting also reviews the detailed study on the financial aspects of the organisation and the approval of the closing account for 2022 as well as the estimated budget for the year 2024. Moreover, the meeting reviews the reports of SAIs on their participation in the work of the committees and working groups emanating from the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).


It is worth mentioning that State Audit Institution is a member of the Executive Council of the ARABOSAI and in a number of technical committees emanating from it. The State Audit Institution works to implement and host a number of activities related to the work of the organisation as a reflection of the effective partnership with regional and international organisation relevant to its competencies. — ONA
