

Muscat: The second-round matches of the Oman Basketball League (OBL) for the 2023-24 season, that took place at the sub-court of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, resulting in two victories. Al Seeb Club defeated Dhofar Club with a score of 99-18, while Al Bashayer Club outperformed Nizwa Club with a score of 104-51.
The first match was intense and exciting, with Al Seeb dominating its periods and exerting significant pressure on Dhofar's court. Dhofar's defence struggled to cope with Al Seeb's attacks, leading to numerous threats to their basket. Al Seeb managed to win all four periods, with standout performances from their American professional player Press, Abdulrahman al Shuaibi, Ayman al Mahrami, Rashid al Zahibi, Ahmed al Maamari, and Zakaria al Wahibi.
In the opening attack, Al Seeb swiftly scored two points through Mazin al Hadidi's shot from under the basket. The team then returned to defense, preventing Dhofar from scoring and adding 5 points, with Rashid al Zahibi and Press contributing. Despite Dhofar's attempt to score 2 points, Al Seeb responded by scoring 14 points, ending the first quarter with Al Seeb leading Dhofar 21-4.
The second quarter saw no significant change in performance, as Al Seeb continued to apply pressure on Dhofar, scoring 10 new points. Abdulrahman al Shuaibi added two more points, extending Al Seeb's lead to 33-6. The pressure continued with Al Seeb adding 5 more points through Rashid al Zahibi and Press, widening the gap to 40-6. Abdulaziz al Balushi, another player from Al Seeb, added a three-pointer, and the first half ended with Al Seeb leading Dhofar 55-6.
The third quarter saw no change, with Al Seeb maintaining dominance and multiplying the score. Ahmed al Maamari added 4 points, followed by 4 more from Rashid al Zahibi and Abdulrahman al Shuaibi, bringing the score to 63-6. Al Seeb continued their offensive efforts, adding 8 points through Press, Ahmed al Maamari, Mazin al Hadidi, and Abdulrahman al Shuaibi, ending the third quarter with Al Seeb leading Dhofar 85-7.
In the fourth quarter, Al Seeb continued fast offensive pace, with Noah al Balushi adding two points. Al Seeb then added 6 more points through Zakaria al Wahibi and Ayman al Mahrami, leading 93-7. Despite Dhofar's efforts to score 2 points, Al Seeb continued with 6 more points, while Dhofar added 9, concluding the match with Al Seeb defeating Dhofar 99-18.
Al Bashayer Dominates Nizwa
In the second match of the evening, Al Bashayer Club demonstrated exceptional skill and coordination against Nizwa Club. The team's offensive prowess, led by players such as Diamond James, Abdulrahman al Shibli, Osama al Riyami, Bassam al Busaidy, Ahmed al Halhali, and Saeed al Saadi, resulted in a resounding victory.
Al Bashayer secured wins in all four quarters, with scores of 26-11, 20-12, 31-15, and 27-13. The match concluded with a dominant final score of 104-51 in favour of Al Bashayer over Nizwa.
