On the picturesque beach of Raysut in the wilayat of Salalah, hundreds of visitors thronged a unique environment-friendly village entertainment during Khareef. Dubbed Osra, the village offered fun and recreation for people of age groups. It contained cafes with sea views and offered beachside activities for a relaxing experience.

This ambitious project was set by a group of young Omani entrepreneurs in 2022. It was supported by Dhofar Municipality, the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Development Authority, and the Salalah Port.

Boat rides, biking, and archery in the village made of recycled wood attracted visitors of all age groups.

A talented group of young Omanis managed the project showing the rich Omani culture and traditions by organizing events such as plays, poetry recitals, and contests for both adults and children.

Osara is different from projects as it is built with recycled wood.

Madinat bint Ahmed Baamar, one of the founders, said, “Osara is not only a project that contributes to the development and progress of Oman's tourism, but also a place for other small businesses to invest and grow. The project initially started as one of the places that will be only opened during the Khareef period from July to September of every year. It appears that the group will be making a great return in winter." The Osara team now looks forward to expanding in various governorates. "One of the most important goals of the team is to contribute to the provision of work opportunities for creative youth and to invest in the talents of young Omanis to promote local tourism,” Madinat said.

Osara is proof of the abilities of Omani youth in the field of tourism and entertainment if given the opportunity and the appropriate support, according to its founder.
