Oman has embarked on a comprehensive journey of digital transformation across various sectors, signifying a paradigm shift in the way the country approaches governance, services, and innovation.

The digital transformation initiatives are aimed at leveraging advanced technologies to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility across different domains, fostering economic development and improving the overall quality of life for its citizens.

The General Directorate of Information Technology, Royal Oman Police, has worked on creating integrated electronic and digital systems, developing its services to meet the needs and aspirations of the entire community.

This is achieved by providing a range of vital services using the latest technologies to facilitate transaction completion through the police services portal, the police application on smartphones, and self-service kiosks. Over the past years, more than 650 electronic systems and services have been implemented.

The ROP has completed numerous technological projects and digital services in various sectors and formations during the year 2023. These include the Electronic Schemes System for Traffic Engineering Management Services and services of the General Operations Management. Additionally, there is a digital library for the Sultan Qaboos Police Academy, an online platform enabling researchers to search and access publications, books, and information sources.

Other services encompass the Customs Declaration System, electronic transfer of vehicle licenses for individuals and institutions, payment of traffic fines with the printing of vehicle licenses and driving permits through self-service kiosks. The services also cover vehicle registration, renewal, and transfer, as well as issuing and renewing driving licenses, driving instruction permits, scheduling test appointments, monitoring tests, and results.

The banking sector has also undergone a comprehensive digital transformation, marked by the adoption of advanced technologies to enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency. Banks have invested in user-friendly online and mobile banking platforms, enabling customers to conduct a wide array of financial transactions remotely.

The integration of digital payment solutions and contactless options has facilitated a shift toward a cashless economy. Moreover, the implementation of customer relationship management (CRM) systems and data analytics tools has allowed banks to offer personalised services and make data-driven decisions. Emphasis on robust cybersecurity measures ensures the secure implementation of digital banking services.

This holistic digital transformation reflects Oman's commitment to leveraging technology to meet evolving customer expectations and contribute to the country's economic growth.

Also, the Ministry of Health introduced efficient and time-saving applications aimed at streamlining procedures and maintaining a professional workflow. One such application, Shifa, facilitates virtual clinic appointments, enabling patients to consult with doctors remotely. patients can access medical test results and review their entire visit history through the app.

Shifa also provides features such as online appointment booking and a chat platform for communication with healthcare professionals. the application offers a convenient option for patients to register for organ donation.

The ministry has also launched an e-service for sick leave certificates, enabling patients to validate sick leaves acquired from private clinics through the MoH e-portal. This initiative aims to organise the workflow and enhance procedural convenience for individuals seeking sick leave approval.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion introduced several e-platforms, including Oman Business, Marouf Oman, and Hazam, as integral components of the Sultanate of Oman's digital transformation strategy and efforts to enhance the investment environment.

Additionally, a Service Guide has been launched with the objective of implementing best practices to serve beneficiaries and create a more favorable business environment for investors. Collectively, these platforms are designed to foster an optimal atmosphere for investors, ultimately aiming to attract more investment to the Sultanate.
