MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology revealed that the unified government network now covers 1,233 government websites as of mid-2023. A total of 23 new government websites and 63 portals were added to the high-speed network this year.
According to Eng Sami Suhail Beit Fadel, Director General of Infrastructure and Digital Platforms at the Ministry, the enhanced connectivity aims to provide secure communication between government institutions and raise the level of electronic services.
He added that 32 state administrative bodies now provide services through the government integration platform, catering to the requirements of fellow administrative agencies, private sector organisations and other entities of the state’s administrative apparatus.
Significantly, since its inception, the high-speed network has handled 800 million requests, around 100 million of which were processed during the first half of this year alone, underscoring the pivotal importance of this platform in providing government services to all stakeholders.
The integrated platform is one of the basic infrastructures for government digital transformation. It is a central system that allows the exchange of data sets between the electronic systems of administrative apparatus units automatically, and works to reduce the time of completing transactions and reduce paper use. — ONA
