The council will hold a meeting next week to elect the members of the standing committees.

The chairman of Majlis Ash’shura opened the meeting with a speech in which he hailed the Royal address delivered by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik at the opening of the eight term of the Council of Oman.

Al Maawali said: “His Majesty affirmed that the Council of Oman is an essential partner in the state system and this shoulders us great responsibilities which we hope to be able to undertake guided by the principles of the Basic Law of the State and the law of the Council of Oman. That national duty requires permanent cooperation between the council and the government bodies as we all seek to realize the same noble goal, which is to serve this dear country. We will be cooperating with the Council of Ministers in a way that serves the highest interest of the nation.” — ONA
