MUSCAT: An Omani team from the Directorate General of Youth won advanced places in the 'GCC Competition on Holy Quran Memorisation and Interpretation of Prophet Muhammad’s Speeches (or Hadith)'.
The contest was organised by the Secretariat General of the GCC States.
Oman’s team won first place, at the individual level, in Category 1 of the contest, set for competitors who memorise the entire Holy Quran and fully understand the interpretation of 70 Hadiths or speeches of the Prophet. The trophy was bagged by Mu’aadh bin Said al Dhoyani.
Oman also won second place, as a team, in Category 1 of the contest (memorising the entire Holy Quran and fully understanding the interpretation of 70 Hadiths). This was in addition to second place in Category 2 of the contest (memorising 20 parts of the Holy Quran and 70 Hadiths).
It is worth noting that the competition is organised by the respective ministries of youth and sports. Each GCC state hosts the annual competition in rotation. - ONA
