SALALAH: A supervisor at a Relief and Shelter Sector in Dhofar announced that all citizens and residents can leave the temporary shelter and return to their homes, as the effects of the tropical system have ended.
A total of 4,620 people were registered in shelter centres during the tropical conditions, including 911 Omanis and 3,709 non-Omanis. There were 43 schools and 26 hotel establishments that served as shelter centres, with a total capacity of 15,000 people. The supervisor thanked all of the staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to provide assistance to those who were affected by the weather conditions.
The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority's teams in Dhofar Governorate transferred patients from alternative hospitals to Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah, after the effects of the tropical condition ended.
The tropical depression is to dissipate over Yemen with a chance of isolated rainfall over Dhofar Governorate. The sea remains moderate along the coastal areas of Dhofar and Al Wusta with a maximum wave height of 2 metres.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, represented by the Directorate-General for Roads and Land Transport in the Governorate of Dhofar, on Wednesday announced the reopening of all roads which were damaged during the tropical condition 'Tej'.
Omar bin Ahmed Muflih, Director-General of Maintenance, said that technical field teams of the directorate worked in cooperation with companies of the private sector to reopen the Diam-Sarfeet road.
He added that the directorate managed to reopen all other roads, including the Argut-Ashikhart road and other mountain roads.
RAFO AIRLIFTS HALANIYAT RESIDENTS BACK HOME
The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) operated a number of flights to return the residents of Al Halaniyat Islands to their homes after an evacuation mission that took place prior to Tej tropical condition in Dhofar Governorate.
The mission formed part of efforts to restore normalcy to the island and reflected the preparedness of RAFO to deal with such adverse weather conditions, said Air Commodore Malik bin Yahya al Numani, Commandant of Salalah Air Base.
