Muscat: A meeting was held at the Ministry of Information on Sunday to review preparations of the Media and Public Awareness Sector of the National Committee for Emergency Management for media coverage of the tropical cyclone (Tej) and its effects on Dhofar Governorate.


The meeting included a detailed explanation highlighting the developments related to the tropical cyclone (Tej) and its expected tracks during the coming hours. It also reviewed the media awareness plan and field preparations associating with media to deal with the tropical weather condition and its potential effects.


The meeting affirmed the readiness of print, audio, visual and electronic media, as well as all supporting tools in dealing with the effects and developments of the tropical cyclone (Tej). It also highlighted the efforts made by the response sectors. The meeting also underscored the importance of taking information from reliable sources to prevent the spread of rumours.


The meeting was held in the presence of Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information, officials and representatives of private media outlets.
