Oman-Indonesia bilateral trade reaches RO 187m in 2022

JAKARTA: A delegation of businessmen representing the boards of directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI in the governorates of Al Dakhiliyah and Dhofar, and a number of businessmen from the two governorates, participated in the activities of the 38th Indonesian International Trade Fair (Trade Expo 38), which is organized by the General Directorate of National Export Development of the Ministry of Commerce in Indonesia. The fair began on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in Jakarta, with an opening ceremony under the auspices of the representative of the Indonesian President and a wide presence from various countries of the world.


The Indonesian trade fair is considered one of the largest international exhibitions, as the fair in its current version is considered the largest reliable interactive platform for businesses that are characterized by diversity. It is held through two tracks: the first is the direct track, which continues until next Sunday, and the second is the display of products via the Internet and continues for two months, until the eighteenth of next December.


Trade exchange between Oman and Indonesia has witnessed steady growth in recent years, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached RO 187.704 million in 2022. Oman’s exports to Indonesia reached a value of RO 32.115, while imports from Indonesia totaled RO 155.588 million Oman imports palm oils, four-wheel drive cars of between 1,500-3,000 cc, private tourist cars, fats, hydrogenated vegetable oils, and smart screens, while the Sultanate of Oman exports to Indonesia a number of commodities, most notably methanol, raw aluminium, gypsum, polypropylene, iron, leather, flour, fish products, crustaceans, molluscs, and fish and bird food.


Trade Expo 38 is a comprehensive business destination offering areas of classified products with live interactions in the live exhibition. Buyers and visitors have the opportunity to join and benefit from comprehensive support programs parallel to the exhibition such as trade forums, international seminars, business matching, and international and local trade missions.


The Omani delegation met with a number of Indonesian businessmen and officials to discuss ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. The delegation also visited a number of pavilions at the exhibition and learned about the latest Indonesian products and services.


Shaikh Nayef bin Hamid Fadel, board member from OCCI’s Dhofar branch, described the Indonesian trade exhibition as one of the best destinations for sourcing products for international buyers.


“In addition, this participation is an opportunity to hold meetings with Omani businessmen with their counterparts from some countries and introduce the economic capabilities that the Sultanate of Oman possesses and invite them to invest in light of the rapid development witnessed by the economic and commercial sector in the Sultanate of Oman in recent years,” he said.
