MUSCAT: The general assemblies of Oman Air and Oman Airports on Saturday held separate meetings during which they dissolved their respective boards of directors and elected new boards of directors for both general assemblies.

The new board of directors of Oman Air and Oman Airports later held separate meetings for both companies under the chairmanship of Eng Said bin Hamoud al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Chairman of the Board.

The meetings approved Oman Air’s new organisational structure and the new committees of the Board of Directors. It also appointed a Deputy Chairman of Board of Directors of the company.

The Oman Air board of directors also approved the implementation of executive action for its financial sustainability programme. It underscored the significance of conducting the programme in accordance with a comprehensive reform vision comprising commercial regulations and corporate governance of human capital.

Meanwhile, Oman Airports Company's Board of Directors reviewed the firm’s strategy for the next five years, discussed the company's financial accounts for the first half of the current year (2023) and approved the formation of new committees for the company's board of directors. It also appointed a Deputy Chairman of Board of Directors.

Al Ma’awali stressed the need to exert concerted efforts during the next stage to enhance the capabilities of civil aviation sector companies in line with the government's directives that focus on maximizing investment returns, achieving in-country added value (ICV) and realising financial sustainability in the sector. — ON
