Muscat: The Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources has announced that the prohibition on kingfish fishing has ended this year.
In his official statement, the ministry said the catching and trading of kingfish will be allowed from October 16.
The ban that came into force on August 15 was implemented with the aim of maintaining the sustainability of kingfish.
During the ban period, they appealed to all fishermen, fish carriers, companies, and institutions who work in fishing, marketing, and exporting kingfish to review the ministry’s departments in the states to register the quantities of kingfish they had before the aforementioned ban period began.
Kingfish were not allowed to be traded or exported during the ban period unless they had been registered.
