88 camel races in Al Bashayer, RCC fields

MUSCAT: The third race of the 21st national camel race kicked off on Tuesday in two race tracks, Al Bashayer Camel Racing Square in Adam and in Royal Camel Corps (RCC) track in Barka.


The event is supported by Royal Court Affairs represented by Royal Camel Corps and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, represented by Oman Camel Racing Federation. The three-day race will be held from October 10 to 12 on the two race tracks located in Al Bashayer and Barka with 44 races in each field.


The first day includes 18 races allocated for Hagayeg category ‘three years old’ for a distance of 3 km, the second day includes 12 races for Lagaya category ‘four years old’ for a distance of 4 km, in addition to two 2 km races for human riders. The third day includes 12 races, 6 races for Al Yethaa category for 5 km, 3 races for Thanayaa category for 6 km and 3 races for Al Hool category for a distance of 6 km.


On Tuesday, at Barka track, ‘Methyar’, owned by Naseer bin Abdullah al Saadi, snatched the golden race title. The second race was won by ‘Al Tharyat’, owned by Saad bin Hamed al Jenaibi, the third winner was won by ‘Al Mared’, owned by Saad bin Hamed al Jenaibi and the fourth race was won by ‘Hajamah’, owned by Said bin Abdullah al Saadi.



‘Shwahean’ claimed the fifth race, owned by Waleed bin Sulaiman al Rushaidi, ‘Al Mohandes’ finished first in sixth race, owned by Mohammed bin Ali al Maharbi, the seventh race was won by ‘Al Shaheanyah’, owned by Humaid bin Said al Saifi.


'Al Degoor’, owned by Saad bin Hamed al Jenaibi, snatched the ninth round, ‘Mahabah’, owned by Hamed bin Salim al Wahaibi, claimed the 10th round, 11th race was won by ‘Shwahean’, owned by Masood bin Nasser al Yahmedi, the 12th race was claimed by ‘Al Nasser', owned by Hilal bin Jameel al Saadi, ‘Al dhabi’, owned by Al Sagyer bin Fayel al Zaree, came first in the 13th round, 'Wed', owned by Ahmed bin Mohammed al Habsi, topped the 14th round, ‘Hamlolah’, owned by Waleed bin Sulaiman al Rushaidi, bagged the 15th round title, ‘Al Dhafrah’, owned by Abdullah bin Hashil al Saadi, came first in the 16th round, ‘Srabah’, owned by Mohammed bin Said al Hajri, won the 17th round and ‘Galmood’, owned by Saleh al Wahibi, finished first in the 18th and the last round on the opening day.


The top 10 winners in all races will have cash prizes. On Wednesday, the race continues with 12 races in Lagaya category and two races with human riders.
