Temperatures to rise during weekend; Jabal Shams cools down

Muscat: Camping in Jabal Shams might turn out to be cold at night as it records 13.7 degrees Celsius at night.


Oman Met Office, however, has announced that there are expectations of a relative rise in temperatures (early to mid-forty) on the coastal areas of the Sea of ​​Oman and the deserts of South Al Sharqiyah.


This is in addition to the mountainous areas of South Al Batinah and Muscat governorates.


"Temperatures are expected to continue to rise in the desert areas during the next three days. Sea state is expected to be light to moderate along Arabian Sea coasts and west Musandam coasts with wave height ranging between 1.25-1.5 m," Oman Met Office stated.


Many wilayats experienced the heat with high temperatures but Jabal Shams went down to 13.7°C at night.


The other places that recorded low temperature at night were Al Jazir with 20.6 degrees Celsius, Saiq in Jabal Al Akhdhar with 21.2 degrees Celsius, and Salalah, Haima, Maqshan and Mirbat all ranged around 22 degrees Celsius.


Fahud, Hamra Ad Duru, Al Sinaina and Dima W'attayeen topped the list of places with high temperatures recording 43 degrees Celsius followed by Adam, Al Mudhaibi, Al Qabil and Bidiya in the early 40s.


While it is mainly clear skies over most of the governorates with high cloud advection, the Oman Met Office said there are chances of low clouds or fog patches during late night to early morning along the parts of coastal areas of the Arabian Sea.
