One of the important allocations among the approved projects by the Tender Board last week is Muscat Winter Wonderland festival activities, which has been allocated RO6.9mn for its implementation and marketing.
The Tender Board approved several projects worth RO488.7mn.
Even though details are yet to be made available, the Winter Wonderland is expected to be a theme park at a permanent venue offering several games, rides, and entertainment activities for both domestic and foreign tourists.
Muscat Municipality has issued a tender for consultancy services to design and develop a festival ground as part of the efforts to present all types of events, activities, and programmes at one integrated site.
A Muscat Municipality official earlier said it is time to have a permanent venue to organise annual festivals and events.
"It is time to have a permanent venue to hold festivals in the future. We have also discussed the proposals, and Muscat Municipality will announce the venue where we can have the festivals and events at a later time." The three-week-long Muscat Nights festival held at the start of this year received over 500,000 citizens, residents, and tourists but had to be held across four venues.
The venues offered activities such as a heritage village, shopping pavilion, stage shows, and e-games and laser shows.
