Al Bashayer thump Oman Club in Credit Oman Cup

Al Bashayer Club made a resounding entry into the Second Credit Oman Basketball Cup with a thrilling victory over Oman Club. The match at the sub-hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher witnessed Al Bashayer's triumph with a score of 79-52.


The match was exciting between the two sides with closeness in performance in the first and third quarters. Al Bashayer excelled better in the second and fourth quarters, where they were able to expand the gap and achieve victory.


In the first quarter, Al Bashayer took the lead through Noah al Mahrouqi. The team continued to surge ahead with a contribution from Said al Saadi. Oman Club, showing resilience, narrowed the margin with a three-pointer from Bassam al Muslimi. Al Bashayer retaliated with a three-pointer from Noah al Mahrouqi, extending their lead to four points. The excitement heightened as both teams launched a series of attacks, resulting in a first-quarter score of 18-12 in favour of Al Bashayer.


The second quarter witnessed Al Bashayer's dominance, with Said al Saadi opening the scoring with a shot from under the basket. Haitham Bani Araba of Oman Club responded with four points, but Al Bashayer swiftly regained the offensive advantage, thanks to Bassam al Busaidi, who added five points, including a three-point shot. Meanwhile, Oman Club missed crucial opportunities, allowing Al Bashayer to capitalise on their mistakes, resulting in a half-time score of 43-22, firmly in favour of Al Bashayer.


BETTER SHOW


In the third quarter, Oman Club displayed an improved performance, outscoring Al Bashayer. Notable contributions came from Haitham Bani Araba and Bassam al Muslimi. However, Al Bashayer responded promptly with points from Osama al Riyami and Ahmed al Jahwari. The quarter ended with Oman Club leading Al Bashayer 52-38.


In the final quarter, Al Bashayer reclaimed their offensive and defensive dominance.


Their players took turns scoring points, and despite Oman Club's valiant attempts to counter, Al Bashayer continued to widen the point gap. The match concluded with a decisive victory for Al Bashayer, defeating Oman Club with a final score of 69-52.


The match was officiated by an esteemed panel of referees, including Rashid al Mushaifri as the first referee, al Khalasi as the second referee, and Wafa al Samriya as the third referee. The table officials included Ghaleb al Hasani, Moosa al Siyabi and Thabet al Hinai.
