SALALAH: Nakheel Oman Development Company, an affiliate of Oman Food Investment Holding Co (Nitaj), has firmly established its presence in Dhofar Governorate, with a range of ongoing operations and exciting new ventures on the horizon.

Current initiatives in the governorate include Al-Najd Farm in Marsoodad in Maqshin, Rahab Farm in Shaleem, and an advanced organic fertilizer factory located in Raysut Industrial Area. These endeavours have played a pivotal role in advancing agricultural practices and promoting sustainability within Dhofar.

Reaffirming this commitment, Nakheel Oman recently signed a key agreement to establish a Textile Agriculture Centre branch in Salalah. This visionary project underscores the company’s bid to pioneer agricultural technologies and drive innovation in the country.

Another significant undertaking in the pipeline is the Integrated Centre for the Collection of Agricultural Products at Hanfeet in Al-Najd. This project is poised to revolutionize the agricultural product supply chain and improve efficiency in the collection and distribution of produce.

Total investments across these projects within Dhofar Governorate are approximately RO 14 million.

Speaking on the sidelines of the agreements signing recently, Khalid bin Awad al Balushi, CEO of Oman National Investments Development Company (Tanmia), a co-founder of Nakheel Oman, said: “The company signed an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to invest in a plot in Dhofar. This is in line with the company's focus on textile agriculture, which is a promising technology for the future.”

He further added: “The Sultanate of Oman is a pioneer in textile agriculture, with over 20 years of experience in this field. Our presence in the Dhofar province will allow us to produce a variety of plants for textile agriculture, such as palm and banana tissue. We will also be able to process and distribute these products locally, closer to the consumers.” Captions: High-level officials pictured at the recent signings of key agreements linked to Nakheel Oman’s investments in Dhofar
