MUSCAT, SEPT 6

The Future Energy Leaders Program is back for its 2nd edition at Oman’s Green Hydrogen Summit 2023. Building and scaling our future industries will require the brightest minds. Those who are prepared to think outside the box and challenge the status quo will drive us towards a more sustainable and equitable future. This program aims to provide global students with the opportunity to explore the emerging green hydrogen industry and bridge the gap between academia and the green hydrogen industries.

The Green Hydrogen Summit is set to take place from December 12 to 15 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre, Muscat.

Positioned as the Green Hydrogen hub of the Middle East, Oman takes bold steps towards the forefront of the global energy landscape. With an eye on decarbonisation targets and economic amplification, the Sultanate of Oman is firmly establishing Green Hydrogen as a pivotal energy source of the future.

Dr Sausan al Riyami, OHC Director, GUtech, the program lead, said, "Student competitions provide a platform for out-of-the-box ideas; thinking differently can transform entire industries by bridging classroom knowledge with real-world challenges, fostering innovation and problem-solving. These platforms provide hands-on experience, encouraging collaboration and networking among peers and professionals. Through competitions, emerging talents gain insights into diverse energy sectors, from sustainable technologies to policy frameworks. The competition eco-system hones skills, cultivates resilience, and nurtures leadership qualities, propelling participants into impactful careers. As these young minds push boundaries, they catalyse advancements, accelerating the global journey towards a sustainable energy future."

Students may submit their abstracts on or before October 1, 2023. Finalists will have the opportunity to unveil their research and studies on an international stage, engaging with an audience comprised of industry experts.

University students are encouraged to submit their abstracts through the Green Hydrogen Summit website: https://greenhydrogensummitoman.com/future-energy-leaders/

Highlighting the significance of this programme, Dr Intisar al Busaidi, – Petroleum Engineer at Sultan Qaboos University, said – "Embrace the challenge of today to shape the world of tomorrow. As future leaders in the realm of green hydrogen and sustainability, we hold the power to harness innovation, drive positive change, and create a legacy of environmental stewardship that future generations will thank us for. The Future Energy Leaders program offers a platform to highlight the student's potential in Oman and around the world to transform their ideas into reality."

This edition of Future Energy leaders is being held within the biggest Hydrogen event in the MENA region ‘Green Hydrogen Summit’ Oman also known as GHSO. GHSO draws support from leading local and international energy companies, including BP, Vulcan Green Steel, Thyssenkrupp, Bureau Veritas, BMW Group, OPAZ and Engie.
