Acceptance will set you free

Holding onto anger is similar to clasping a scorching hot rock waiting to throw it at someone we deem deserves the blame; all the while we are the ones getting burnt. Instead of conceding, accepting and giving others the benefit of doubt, we can be quick to judge people and situations without giving much leeway.

Our reaction can often be difficult to explain, seeing as the behaviour usually originates from a place shielding an underlying insecurity, which we are generally unaware of and has most probably been instilled since childhood. We more than often retaliate from that wounded place, which if hasn’t been healed, will become triggered and be reactionary through feelings and displays of sadness, anger, anguish or the like.

Acceptance of the situation, circumstance, the person or the event will help this anger to dissipate. Instantly there is an energy shift within the body, as the head sends it signals via uplifting thoughts, which in turn produces worthy feelings, appropriate actions and gratifying behaviour.

Acceptance is a transformative force that has the power to change lives, relationships and even societies. It is a fundamental human need and desire to feel accepted — its effects holding a profound impact on our interaction and connection with others.

Accepting others’ flaws as a mirror of your flaws can help to understand why you get negatively affected and upset. Instead of trying to control the very thing in others which you know needs changing in yourself, treat the situation with more compassion towards them and yourself too. Acceptance is the epitome of relinquishing control. Aim to consistently generate a laissez-faire attitude, whereby you consciously focus on accepting things occurring, with little attachment to the outcome.

Accepting diverse perspectives promotes harmony and peace, while ideas from new thinking fuels innovation and creativity. The acceptance of others is intertwined with the acceptance of self, which is the cornerstone of our emotional well-being. When we embrace our strengths and acknowledge our weaknesses without judgement, we experience a deep sense of inner peace and higher self-esteem.

Acceptance is not a passive act, it’s an active choice. It means recognising and respecting the differences that make each individual special. Accepting other people challenges our own biases and pre-conceived notions. However, it pushes us to grow as individuals, expands our perspectives and we become more open-minded and adaptable.

Accepting others is not only a generous and compassionate act, it also has transformative effects on our lives. It liberates us from the constraints of prejudice, judgement, bias and intolerance, allowing us to experience greater personal fulfilment and deeper connections in a more harmonious and interconnected world. By embracing acceptance, we free ourselves from all the limitations usually constricting us and we open ourselves up to the richness of diversity. Here’s to continuously and continually unlocking our wonderful human potential.
