The Oman Hockey Federation signed a partnership and sponsorship agreement with Jindal Shadeed Company to support the national teams (men and women) that will participate in the finals of the Hockey5s World Cup, which will be hosted by the Sultanate of Oman from January 24 to 31, 2024 in Muscat.
The signing of the partnership agreement was attended by Dato' Tayyab Ikram, President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), a number of officials from the Asian Hockey Federation, heads of Arab federations, representatives of the participating Asian teams, and various media outlets.
The signing of the partnership coincided with the ongoing Hockey5s Asian Cup at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah during the period from August 25 to September 2.
The agreement was signed by OHA Chairman Dr Marwan bin Juma al Juma and Harsha Shetty, CEO of Jindal Shadeed Company.
Harsha Shetty said: "We are proud to have signed a partnership and sponsorship agreement with the Oman Hockey Association. Jindal Shadeed Company pays great attention to the sports sector and is keen to empower and qualify young people athletically, especially in hockey. This agreement is considered one of the initiatives that the company provides it to develop and spread the game of hockey and provide sponsorship for the hockey5s Asia Cup and the World Cup. All of these initiatives are in the interest of young people, who represent the basic pillar of societies."
"We thank the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the OHA for giving us the opportunity to be a part of creating this most prominent global event in the game of hockey. Previously, we had cooperation and sponsorship agreements with institutions interested in football, and now we cooperate with the Oman Hockey Association, and Jindal Shadeed Company seeks to achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040 in all possible ways and in various sectors.

OHA Chairman Dr Marwan expressed his happiness at signing this important agreement, as he said: "We are happy to sign this agreement and qualitative partnership with the Jindal Shadeed company. We thank them for their great trust, and we appreciate their great keenness to benefit the Oman hockey. This agreement aims to improve the various technical aspects of competitions and championships, develop human cadres and enhance the association's administrative work environment, enabling us to achieve greater successes in the next stage.
He added: "The agreement comes as a culmination of the directions of the OHA and in support of the path of strategic partnerships with various sectors to serve the course of the game. The deal will cover the Hockey5s World Cup in Muscat as the OHA look to strengthen ties with private sector companies. The tie-up will help to refine our projects and supports in holding courses for coaches, players, referees and administrators and improve the technical levels of the game.
Al Juma said: "This agreement is expected to contribute in different aspects, including developing the administrative level of the OHA, and improving the level of players belonging to the national teams, especially youth, by creating continuous development programmes and follow-up by the FIH, according to annual performance indicators.
The OHA will follow the best international methods and practices in the overall development of the game in the country along with promoting hockey in various governorates as a sport that is popular and easy to practice by everyone.
"It is expected that this agreement will contribute to achieve further development , especially in aspects of building technical strategic plans for national teams, enhancing aspects of technical development for players and coaches, and establishing local tournaments. The hockey board will cooperate with the local clubs and the Oman Schools Sports Association (OSSA) to boost the game among the young children.
"This agreement will undoubtedly contribute to strengthen the national teams by finding the required talents. The OHA will work with all parties represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth as well as the concerned federations such as the OSSA as well as local clubs in achieving all related goals."
The OHA chief hopes that the partnership will contribute to the establishment of strong national teams, the implementation of local and international competitions, and the presence of Omani cadres with international levels qualified in the world of arbitration, training and management of international tournaments and events.
